falling back on your memories of bliss

Pictures from June 4, 2009.

Some great colleagues of Phil's bought a great Red Rider wagon for Quin as a shower present. I had my crafty dad put it together (funny, Quin thinks it is from yeye (Chinese for grandfather)) and on warm night a month later I got the family to actually go out on a walk. It was a lovely, idyllic day and I felt blissfully happy then. You need to hold onto those moments--draw on them when time is, as often, less blissful.

Will she be a chef when she grows up?

Quin likes to feed everyone, even the cats. Sometimes she brings out all her stuffies and gives them food. Of course, she may be a nurse like her baba as I got her a little nurse's kit last week (to help her get over her fear of shots) and now she is giving us all shots and listening to our hear beat and taking our temperatures. Her froggy and moose are getting a lot of quality care and her rates are very reasonable--each shot costs just one hug.

So busy

It is raining and raining here, and not just a little rain. We are flooding. We went from almost no water two weeks ago to 1000 gallons+ in our tank now and I had to turn the pump off even though the rain keeps coming. You can see pictures at this page: Seward flood 2009 Pictures #9-13 are of the area by my house and the creek that floods over the road. My middle school is now a Red Cross shelter as some people in low lying areas have had to evacuate. We are up high enough here, but may not be able to go into town tomorrow as the water was just touching Salmon Creek Road ( a road out of this subdivision) this afternoon and we are expected to get another 1-2 inches tonight.

I am SO busy. I had NO idea how much time and energy a three year old would need. I am very happy and she is very happy, but I just have no time to write.

A co-worker of mine died Sunday night--her car was hit by another car out of control. I am feeling a little blue. The rain doesn't help.

Here are pictures from the Sea Life Center (where you head when it rains). There is a picture where Quin is pointing at a sea otter. The otter in the picture is named Skittle--he was orphaned as a pup and has been rehabilitating at the center. He died last week (days after we saw him) because he moved some stuff around in his tank and got trapped under water and drowned. It hasn't been a happy week in Seward.
